Are you scared of drowning again in swimming? Don’t hesitate to swim again, learn these lifesaving strokes that I learned in swimming activities in Abu Dhabi to save your lives or other lives in emergency situation.
Survival Backstroke – is a great way to stay out of trouble because it requires less energy. Your back is on the water while your mouth and nose is over the water. The advantage of it is help you to breathe easily while the disadvantage is you cannot see where you going. Doing this is like doing breast stroke but in upside down.
Oar Stroke / Moth Stroke – Doing this is like butterfly stroke but in opposite motion. You need to move your arms in circular motion and your feet kick like in breast stroke. Don’t be confused in doing this and backstroke, the difference is the motion of your arms. Practice it with a float in your back to master the coordination of the motion both arms and legs.
Lifesaver’s Stroke – it is almost similar in backstroke but you rescue someone in doing it. Your one arm needs to support the casualty while the other hand is for sculling. You legs need to kick lower to prevent kicking the casualty, unlike in normal breast stroke. Your legs need more kicking in this situation to support both of you.
Train Harder
You need to train harder when you know these strokes because there is more pressure when doing it on emergency cases than in training. You can also try it with life jacket to train you harder. It has an incredible feeling when you save someone’s life.
